NodoAESAN is a network of institutions that carry out their activities in the field of food safety.

Law 11/2001 dated July (Spanish Official Gazette dated 6 July 2001), by means of which the Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency was created, establishes in article 4.4.e that the Agency shall promote the creation of a network of institutions who will permanently collaborate together and that will carry out research work and prepare scientific and technical reports. In addition, article 2 establishes as one of its competences, the creation of a census and updating of public and private resources related to food safety, thus enhancing the relationship among them.

The network emerges in response to the need to integrate information on food safety in Spain. It aims to promote knowledge, to join research resources and to respond to different needs in this area.

The objective is to create a climate of co-operation among its members, identifying the problems and searching for solutions with the best possible use of resources, so that, in the event of a problem, it is possible to respond faster than individually.

Members of the network may include:

  • Universities
  • Research groups
  • Public or private laboratories
  • Thematic networks
  • Associations related to food safety
  • Hospitals and health centres

Professionals working in the field of food safety.
