On September 20th-28th a visit has taken place by two experts from Cape Verde, Iris Vasconcelos (Head of Division of Food Risk Prevention) and Darlene Duarte (Head of the Division of Assessment and Communication of Food Risks), conform the collaboration agreement signed by the AESAN, the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Government of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha and the Agency for Regulation and Supervision of Pharmaceutical and Food Products (ARFA) of Cape Verde. The two experts were accompanied by Maria del Cristo, a member of AECID in Cape Verde.

The aim of this collaboration agreement is to establish lines of cooperation that extend the development of preparation, education and training of human resources of these institutions, creation and development of working groups, development of technology extension, the execution of projects and scientific and technical information exchange, with respect to policies related to food safety.

More specifically, these days have been dedicated to support the ARFA technicians in training and the promotion of professional procedures on good practices along the food chain: safety and food policy, evaluation and communication of food risks, management of food risks; company and product certification and official control.

To accomplish these objectives, meetings were held both in the AESAN and in the General Office of Health Affairs and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of Castilla La Mancha. Facilities of the Border Inspection Post at the airport in Madrid were visited as well in order to become familiar with border food control.
