The Spanish Agency of Food Health and Nutrition (AESAN) received yesterday a delegation from the People’s Republic of China, headed by Mr. Zhang Chonghe, Vice-Minister of the Office of the Central Commission for the Reform of the Public Sector.

On behalf of AESAN, the Secretary General of Health and Consumer Affairs and President of the Spanish Agency of Food Safety and Nutrition, Pilar Farjas, welcomed them, explaining how food safety is organised within the European framework in addition to covering other aspects related to nutritional strategy.

The President of AESAN expressed her desire that this meeting should serve to further strengthen the ties between the two countries, to provide continuity for the mutual benefit of both countries.

During the meeting, which was also attended by the Executive Director of the Agency Ángela López de Sá, questions of interest were raised related to the field of food safety.
