Food Quality Workshop

Roberto Sabrido will speak during the opening ceremony of the IV Workshop on food quality “Advertising of food products and consumer information”, organised by the regional government of Madrid, which takes place today at the city’s Official Veterinarian Association. Also taking part are Belén Prado Sanjurjo (Madrid Regional Vice-Councillor of Health Regulation and Infrastructures), the President of the association, Felipe Vilas and the Madrid Regional Director-General of Regulation and Inspection, Manuel Molina Muñoz.

This workshop was organised by the Regional Directorate-General of Regulation and Inspection of the Madrid Regional Department of Health.

It is aimed at professionals working in the field of food and nutrition, business leaders in the sector, technicians from public authorities with responsibility for official control, and representatives of consumers’ associations.

The workshop aims to pool together the different opinions and perspectives of the various players in the food marketing and control chain with regard to messages about nutritional and health benefits of foods being issued by food companies.

The workshop, which takes place during the morning, will focus on the application of Regulation (EC) No 1924/2006 on Nutrition and Health Claims, examining the current situation and perspectives, as well as action strategies and effectiveness in consumer communication.

The AESAN President made special mention of the “commercial reconciliation of health and food”.

The industry is committed to research, technological development and innovation, given that these will open the way to new possibilities in this new setting.
