The Royal Decree 191/2011, issued on February 18, concerning the General Sanitary Registry for Food Businesses and Foods (BOE 8.3.2011), in article 2 lists the establishments and companies that will be subject to entry in the national registry and those that will be registered in the regional registries; and in article 3 it specifies the food products that must be subject to the national registry.

Information on the PROCEDURES is provided, in accordance with articles 6, 7 and 8 of said royal decree, which the food business operators that have their headquarters in Spanish territory, whether or not they have any food establishment, or commercialize in Spain foodstuffs intended for particular nutritional uses, natural mineral waters or spring waters must follow.

In addition, the Registry includes a SEARCH ENGINE FOR REGISTERED COMPANIES with which one can locate food businesses from any sector of the industry registered in the national registry attached to this Agency. There are other registries for the food industry sector administered by different authorities, covering primary production, of regional nature, or dependent on other Departments with different purposes.

This site also includes a SEARCH ENGINE FOR EU APPROVED SPANISH ESTABLISHMENTS in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 853/2004.

Registry of Transport Companies

In article 2 of Royal Decree 191/2011, issued on February 18, concerning the General Sanitary Registry for Food businesses and Foods, the activity of transport between the food businesses and establishments subject to registry is included. This is a new inclusion to the Registry regulation, which did not exist prior to this Royal Decree.

Plants for removing vertebral column (TSE) and plants for treating meat from fighting bulls

In accordance with these provisions, certain meat processing plants must be specially authorized for said function by following this authorization procedure:
