Act 7/1996 governing the regulation of the retail trade, passed in Spain on 15th January 1996. Section 10  

The seller of the goods shall be answerable for the lack of compliance thereof with the contract of sale in accordance with the terms laid down by the laws thereon currently in force (…) The additional commercial warranty offered by the seller shall in any event include the obligations that are imposed by law in the field of warranties of consumer goods (…). The producer or, in the absence thereof, the importer, shall in all cases guarantee to purchasers an adequate technical service for the goods of a durable nature that he manufactures or imports as well as the supply of spare parts during a minimum timeframe of five years from the date on which the product has ceased to be manufactured. (…) The action or right to recover the goods delivered by the consumer or user to the trader for the repair thereof shall be time-barred when three years have passed from the time of the delivery thereof.
