20/01/12. Pilar Farjas, Secretary General for Health, takes over the presidency of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition, a position held by Roberto Sabrido up to 14 January.

Ms. Farjas holds a degree in Medicine and Major Surgery from the University of Zaragoza, a degree in Sociology from the University of Distance Education (UNED), a degree in Advanced Studies from the University of A Coruña, and Masters degree in Biostatistics.

Ms. Farjas worked as a company doctor and national health doctor in the Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs, was responsible for the National Hemotherapy Plan, a foreign health doctor, head of department and general deputy director of Protection, and Director of Public Health for the Galicia Regional Government. She was executive director of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety of the Ministry of Health, head of the Cabinet of the Ministry of Fisheries for the Galicia Regional Government, department head of Health Products for the Ministry of Health for the Galician Regional Government and a councillor in the A Coruña City Council. Until her appointment as Secretary General for Health in the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality on 30 December 2011, Ms. Farjas was the Minister of Health for the Galicia Regional Government.

24/03/2012. Ángela López de Sá has been appointed Executive Director of the Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency.

Licenciada en Ciencias Físicas por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y profesora ayudante de dicha Universidad durante dos años, López de Sá es funcionaria de la Escala Superior de Organismos Autónomos del Ministerio de Sanidad. En 1977 se incorporó al Ministerio como Titulado Superior del Centro de Investigación y Control de Calidad (CICC). En representación del CICC ha formado parte de diversos grupos de trabajo y de investigación en el análisis de alimentos y de la metodología y las técnicas analíticas, tanto en España como en la Unión Europea.

Ha colaborado en la elaboración de la normativa española en asuntos alimentarios, y ha participado en la elaboración de la postura española de la Normativa Comunitaria. En la actualidad trabajaba como directora de Asuntos Científicos y Normativos de Coca-Cola Iberia.

07/03/12. Ms. Sara Cristina Pupato Ferrari is appointed as the Secretary General of the Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition

She graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the Complutense University of Madrid and is a specialist in Rheumatology and Occupational Medicine.She has a Masters Degree in Health Institution Management from Spain’s National Health School.

She is a civil servant for the Medical Inspectors Department of the Social Security Administration’s Health Inspection Body.

Throughout her career she has been:Manager of the 24th Outpatients District(Alcalá de Henares-Torrejón de Ardoz),Deputy Medical Director,Medical Director and Managing Director of Móstoles Hospital,Manager of the Virgen de la Torre Hospital and the Eloy Gonzalo Hospital,Managing Director of La Princesa University Hospital and Managing Director of the Santa Cristina University Hospital.

She was the GeneralDeputy Manager of Healthcare at the National Institute of Health Management (INGESA) and Director of this very Institute.From this post she went on to be appointed as Secretary General of the AESAN.

She is Vice-President of the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE).

01/05/12. Teresa Robledo de Dios, ha sido nombrada vocal asesor Estrategia NAOS de la Agencia Española de Seguridad Alimentaria y Nutrición

Es licenciada en Medicina y Cirugía por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, funcionaria de la escala Médico Inspector del Cuerpo de Inspección Sanitaria de la Administración de la Seguridad Social, y Máster en Epidemiología y Salud Pública.

Ha sido jefa del Servicio de Promoción de Hábitos Saludables y jefa del área de Prevención de la Dirección General de Salud Pública del Ministerio de Sanidad y Consumo. Ha sido miembro del Comité de Dirección del Programa de Acción comunitario en el ámbito de la Salud Pública 2003-2007, del grupo de expertos sobre alcohol y salud de la Comisión Europea, Representante Nacional ante la OMS en materia de alcohol y en el área de lesiones, miembro de la Alianza Europea sobre Seguridad Infantil, secretaria técnica de la Comisión de Salud Pública del Consejo Interterritorial, miembro del Grupo de Educación Sanitaria del Programa de Actividades de Prevención y Promoción de la Salud de la semFYC y del Comité Español Interdisciplinario para la Prevención Cardiovascular.

Fue Secretaria del Plan Nacional sobre el Sida y hasta su actual nombramiento fue Coordinadora de Programas en la Secretaría General de Sanidad y Consumo.

04/03/2009. Milagros Nieto Martínez has been appointed Assistant Director General for the Coordination of Food Alerts and Official Inspection Programming.

Milagros Nieto Martínez was born in Segovia, she holds a degree in Veterinary Science from the Complutense University of Madrid. After joining the National Veterinary Association in 1991, she embarked on an administrative career, first as Head of a Branch of the Valencia Border Inspection Service and then as a Senior Technician in the Public Health Directorate of the Ministry of Health and Consumption.

Then, in the Food Safety and Nutrition Agency, in the General Coordination of Food Alerts and Inspection Programming as Senior Technician, Head of Food Planning and Monitoring. She is currently working as the Head of the Food Alert Coordination Service.

28/02/2009. Juan Julián García Gómez has been appointed Advisor of the Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency.

Juan Julián García Gómez, was born in Los Navalmorales (Toledo). He holds a doctorate in Veterinary Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Diploma in Health and a Master in Health Administration (executive mode), the highest level of specialisation offered by the National School of Health.

Since 1986 his career has been linked to the Ministry of Health of the Council of Communities of Castilla-La Mancha, Senior Service, Local Health Service, where he has held several positions linked to the field of food hygiene and public health. He is currently working as the Head of Communications for AESAN.

01/10/08. Ana Canals Caballero has been appointed Advisor of the Spanish Food Safety and Nutrition Agency.

Ana Canals Caballero holds a doctorate in Biological Sciences from the UCM. She has worked as a researcher for over 20 years in the field of Animal Health, both in Spain (INIA, Ministry of Science and Innovation) and abroad (Agriculture Research Service, USA).

In recent years she has worked at the Research Centre for Animal Health (CISA, INIA) as Research Technical Director since January 2005 in the Ministry of Public Administrations, as Advisor, participating in the coordination, planning and management of a number of processes connected with human resources and budget management in the said Department.

10/07/2007 Rosa Sanchidrián Fernández has been appointed Assistant Director-General of Food Risk Management

She belongs to the Soivre Inspection Service. She has been working at the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
